"He Couldn’t Hold It Anymore": Akash Deep's Emotional Tribute To Sister Battling Cancer

India's pace sensation Akash Deep stunned the cricketing world not just with his fiery 10-wicket haul at Edgbaston, but with a deeply personal revelation that left millions emotional. After sealing India’s historic 336-run win over England, Akash dedicated his performance to someone very special — his sister, Jyoti, who is currently battling stage 3 cancer.

"Don’t Worry About Me, Just Play For The Country" – Sister's Inspiring Words

In a heartfelt interview, Jyoti shared her thoughts about the moment her brother opened up on live TV:

“I had no idea Akash would say something like that. Maybe we weren’t ready to talk about it publicly. But the way he became emotional and dedicated the performance to me… it shows how deeply he cares.”

She added, “Before he left for the England tour, I told him, ‘Don’t worry about me, just focus on your game.’ I’m in the third stage of cancer, and the doctors have said six more months of treatment. But I didn’t want him to lose focus.”

From Hospital Wards To Cricket Grounds: A Brother's Silent Struggles

Jyoti recalled how Akash visited her in the hospital during the IPL while playing for the Lucknow team.

“Even with his hectic schedule, he came to see me before or after matches. After the Edgbaston Test, we talked twice over video call. He cried and told me, ‘The whole country is with us now.’ That moment broke me,” she said.

Holding the Family Together

Akash, who has risen through immense personal struggles, has now taken the role of caretaker for his family.

“Since we lost our father and eldest brother, Akash has taken up all the responsibility. He doesn't take a single decision without consulting the family. He’s more than a cricketer – he’s our pillar,” Jyoti said proudly.

From The Streets Of Bengal To The World Stage

The story of Akash Deep is not just one of talent, but of unwavering love, sacrifice, and courage. As chants of his name echo across the cricketing world, it is clear that Akash Deep is not just winning matches — he's winning hearts.
