Strong winds and high temperatures not only fueled the fires but also caused widespread power outages, leaving nearly 300,000 energy customers in the dark. The National Weather Service is predicting continued "red flag" weather conditions that will heighten risks across the region.

Emergency Response

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone has asked for assistance from neighboring counties and states, including Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. More than 1,000 personnel and 250 fire engines are on their way to help.

School Closures

At least 19 Los Angeles school districts closed because of the fires. Los Angeles Unified is weighing whether tomorrow will be part of the shutdown. Pasadena Unified has closed all of its campuses as well, stating safety concerns and the need for damage assessment.

Lakers coach JJ Redick shared an emotional statement about his family's evacuation from the Palisades area. "Thoughts and prayers for sure, and hope everybody stays safe," he said.

Universal Studios Shuts Down

Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk closed today due to extreme fire and wind conditions. According to officials, safety is their number one priority and they anticipate reopening tomorrow.
