Mumbai’s lifeline, the suburban local train network, has been hit hard by continuous heavy rainfall over the last two days. Waterlogging at multiple locations has led to delays, cancellations, and even suspensions of services, leaving thousands of daily commuters stranded or facing long waits.
On Tuesday, a local train was seen stranded at Sion Station due to severe waterlogging on the railway tracks. Restoration efforts continued overnight, with officials working to drain flooded sections and resume services.
According to officials quoted by PTI, services on the Central Railway’s Harbour Line—which were suspended for over 15 hours due to flooding—were finally restored at around 3 am on Wednesday.
